The plot – just, wow. The book starts off with Banyan accepting a job from gootless horrible, rich, fat or so I imagined junkie dude named Frost that he knew he shouldn’t take but does anyway because he needs the money.

I thought the last third of the novel was exceptionally good, being genuinely horrifying in a quiet way. To reach a safe haven, Banyan will need the help of the pirate girl he loves, Alpha, his broken friend, Crow, and his troubled sister, Zee.

Rootless was a book that definitely caught my interest. While I won’t give anything away, the ending of the first book does present an interesting question – should the individual be sacrificed for the good of the whole planet or do individual rights trump the future of everything else?

Chris was approachable and the students enjoyed asking questions and learning from his experiences. Supporting characters cgris well rootlses. I find it interesting, and disturbing, that a lot of these outbreaks occur hoawrd a result of our management or mis-management of the natural world:.
